Shipments to the USA

Important information for shipments to the USA

The United States has suspended the duty exemption for commercial items with a value of up to USD 2,500 from all countries. As a result, every item must be cleared through customs, regardless of its value.

From 24 July 2026, the current flat-rate customs duty (10% for goods originating in the EU) will be replaced by the standard US customs duties based on the relevant customs tariff classification. This will generally result in higher customs charges.

From 24 July 2026, the following rules will apply:

  • The duty-free import threshold for goods valued at less than USD 2,500 will be abolished for all countries.
  • Every item must be cleared through customs, regardless of its value.
  • Gift consignments sent from one private individual to another, with a value of up to USD 100 and declared as "Gift", will remain duty-free.
  • Documents can continue to be sent without restriction.
  • Business customers can use the Postal Delivered Duty Paid (PDDP) shipping solution. post.at/paket-international-pddp and post.at/brief-international-pddp
